Qur'an at Beacon?

Beacon has been serving the Muslim community with unique style of teaching Quran to children and adults. Often adults share experiences of negative Quran learning which is why we focus on connecting with the Quran with one-to-one support at your level and understanding how difficult it is to get the correct pronunciation.

Our method focuses on individual progress through one-to-one listening and correcting on the spot as well as group learning to get peer support. We have mix ability but with differentiated learning task and outcome. Students sit in a group according to their task and ability and the practice-based approach helps students to develop love for reading and push themselves to finish the course.

The students enjoy the reading element of Tajweed and it allows them to get inspired seeing everyone read and thus making the environment spiritually healing for mind and soul.

Moreover, testing is done regularly which helps them to practice. Our main two tests help them to achieve certification to become an assistant teacher and main teacher in a classroom. 

As for theory this is incorporated slowly and naturally as they become confident in pronunciation and reading.

Practical Tajweed For Each Letter
ON-DEMAND

The focus is on how to pronounce the letters correctly in line with the rules of Tartil and Tajweed. Sheikh Fahim goes through each letter from a practical perspective, explaining Makhraj, where the letters and its sounds originates from, explaining Sifat, the qualities of letters, going through each letter explaining and practicing various important qualities like, sound, air/breath, full mouth (Tafkhim), empty mouth (Tarqiq), unique qualities of individual letters. As well as, highlighting common mistakes made by people in their recitation of the Quran.

Sheikh Fahim has graduated with a MA in Teaching & Learning and a Bachelors degree in Business Studies and Marketing from London. He also completed a Diploma in Arabic and a Bachelors degree in Usul-ad-Din and Usul-al-Fiqh in Arabic Medium from the European Institute of Islamic Sciences in France. While studying Shariah he also completed an intensive Tajweed course on Ibn al-Jazari, a classical Tajweed text, and studies Tajweed extensively under a number of Tajweed scholars.

Selina Begum Ali

Sheikha Selina has graduated with a Bachelors degree (BEd) in Primary Education, CELTA and PTLLS from London. She also completed a Diploma in Arabic Language and a Bachelors degree (BA) in Usul-Ad-Din and Usul-al Fiqh in Arabic medium from the European Institute of Islamic Sciences in France. While studying Shariah she also completed an intensive Tajweed course on Ibn Al-Jazari, a classical Tajweed text, and studied Tajweed extensively under a number of male and female tajweed scholars.
